The
Baja California peninsula is distinguished for its geography, its
history and is know for its oceanography, its beautiful resort destination
as well its sports activities. Here the game of golf is played on
splendid courses. Tijuana is México's most important border
city, lying only ten minutes from San Diego, California, from where
golfers come to play at the REAL DEL MAR GOLF CLUB which was designed
by Pete Dye in such a manner so that all its holes have a view of
the Pacific Ocean and the Coronado Islands. The verdant carpets
of the course combine with the majestic sea and it is breathtaking
to watch the many blues of the ocean while strolling along the greens.
One example of local sophistication is the area restaurants where
a favorite dish is Pacific lobster served with black beans and blue
tortillas. BAJAMAR is located near the city of Ensenada, the oldest
port on the peninsula. Designed by Percy Clifford, the course is
a challenge for any golfer. It includes a club house, tennis courts,
swimming pools, pro shop, steam baths and sauna. Across from this
legendary course you can enjoy a dinner of grilled lobster or crayfish
served with garlic butter at the Bajamar restaurant and, for a change
of pace, drive 36 kilometers to La Bufadora where a mountain drops
straight into the sea.
